Rob,

When you run those commands in batch, you don't get the "press enter" messages.
All you should need to do is dump the commands you've listed below into a file
in the IFS and you should be all set.

Subject: [WEB400] qshell script to drop servers

According to:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/pvc/wp/502/smbi/en/InfoCenter/wpf/inst_startstop.html

to stop and start a server I can do it through the webadmin client or via
qshell. I'd like to do it via qshell scripts in order to put it in backup
procedures, etc.

So, I am thinking I need to create a qshell script like the following:
# Stop the Websphere portal instances
cd /QIBM/ProdData/WebAS5/PME/bin
stopServer -instance WAS5Portal WAS5Portal -user MyUser -password MyPwd
stopServer -instance default server1 -user MyUser -password MyPwd
# end of file

Then I can run it with something like:
STRQSH CMD('/Operations/DownServers.sh')

Next I'll have to start figuring out how to handle:
- The "Press Enter to end terminal emulation" screen.
- Exception handling.
- Logging

Pretty simple, or do I need a book on QSHELL scripting? Will some freebie
infocenter link do it, or do you recommend one of the books at
http://store.midrange.com
like "QSHELL for iSeries"
