I think it is an excellent move. PHP is open source which means if there is functionality or feature that doesn't exist, wait 10 minutes. PHP feels a lot like C and JavaScript with a few things that seem like they came from other languages....it's the best of the best wrapped up and it gets better as time goes by. Excellent move! I know we can compile and run PHP on the iSeries now, but IBM has announced that by the end of the year all eServers will support PHP [1]. I also include some of my thoughts on the topic on my blog [2]. What do you think? Good direction for IBM? I don't want to include NET.DATAinto this as I don't want to open that can of worms!
