The connector is what lets Tomcat communicate with the HTTP server.

I went to ignite400, and printed your pdf file...

I was able to get the tc 4.1.31 up and running in about 10 mins... (as
a
stand alone) I'll tackle the apache plug-in tomorrow...

I have not done the connector yet either... What does the connector do?

Thank You...

Thanks, Tim

Tim,

The configuration file is probably in Unicode which is a double byte
character set. If you open it with something that understands Unicode
(such
as EDTF or WordPad) it will look okay.

Also, I wouldn't mess with the version of Tomcat that IBM provides. It
was
really old (and had security bugs) when IBM delivered it and IBM
crippled it
so it doesn't compare as well to WebSphere. You can download a more
recent
build from http://jakarta.apache.org (you'll need to download the
connector
as well, I just posted the URL for it earlier
today) and it will run just fine. JDK 1.4 and the latest Java group are
strongly recommended for best results.

Yesterday, I attempted to setup the asftomcat, that is part of the
apache
admin functions...

It created an Engine1, and started 'out of process'...

But there were not examples or test files... So I'm still not sure it
works...

So any how, I went to look at the server.xml file, and it was in a this
format, it looked like there was a space between each character like
this...

 < ? x m l v e r s i o n = " 1 . 0 " e n c o d i n g = " U T F - 1 6
" ?
>
 < S e r v e r >
       < x m l m a p p e r : d e b u g l e v e l = " 0 " / >
       < ! - - = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = L o g g e
r
e l e m e n t s = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

s / j a s p e r . l o g " v e r b o s i t y L e v e l = " I N F O R M

... Snip....

Did I do something wrong?

Thanks, Tim
