In  this context, native probably means it will run on the Power 5 chip, as  
opposed to an integrated Intel server.  The instructor for the  class at COMMON 
is currently  a  member  of  the  i5/  OS  PASE  team.
  
  Frank Soltis describes PASE as an environment for hosting AIX  applications 
without the AIX operating system.  It's separate from  the ILE environment, but 
connected in the sense that AIX applications  can call ILE programs and access
