I just had to post this...
 
I am working with a client that has need to connect to a remote insurance
web service for scored credit reporting type stuff.  I was seeing the usual
SOAP web service type stuff until I came to the response of the SOAP
request. Within the body of the SOAP response is fixed length x.12 EDI type
records (i.e. HDR, CD01, PH01, SH01, etc)  .  I just had to grin at that:-)
Nothing like adopting a technology half-way.
 
Anyways, one thing is for sure - they saved a lot of space in the SOAP
response documents without having any xml tags surrounding the response data
<VBG>.
