(And I thank you for point out enterprise hardware) I'm no newbie to iSeries, I've been working with them since pre-release (early 88) but I'm also not a newbie in the windows world. And yes, I agree, we all promote what we're most comfortable in. My point isn't that iSeries is bad, it's not, it's a spectacular system. My point is, you can deploy enterprise systems on iSeries or ASP.Net (or both) and you should choose the one that's right based on staffing, available applications and other "soft" values, without fear of running into any performance, scalability, or other limitations.
