PHP offers the same "save and run" ability that Net.Data. Like Jon pointed out, it is an obsolete language and "i" is the only platform its still offered on. I don't think there's been so much as a PTF for it in several years. I haven't done anything with PHP on the i yet but I have done a wee little bit with it on Windows and Unix and it's pretty nice. There are also development tools for it which Net.Data doesn't have anymore (there was one about 10 years ago called Site Boss/400 but the company that made it pulled the plug just as it was getting decent).
Java is also another option. There's a jar file on Apache.org that makes uploads about as easy as Jon's PHP code.

I'll take that advise, Matt. The OS provides another copy of DB2WWW in
library QSYSCGI, which I tried to reference initially, and I'll try
switching back to it. I also read about calling it through a CL program
once before.
In working with Net.Data macros, I'm reminded how seductively appealing
it is to run scripts. Once the environment is set up, just edit a text
file, key in the URL, and you're immediately rewarded with a response,
even if it's little more than an error message.
