I checked the ZENDCORE Apache server General Server Config Advanced tab, and there is an .htaccess entry in the Access control files names section.

I turned on Debug level logging and then shut down and restarted the Zend subsystem and the MySQL subsystem (these will stop and start the Apache instance).

The only items in the log are:
[Fri May 30 14:55:54 2008] [debug] mod_proxy.c(618): [client 10.1.250.253] ZSRV_MSG1501: UseProxy matched request for /drupal/
[Fri May 30 14:56:14 2008] [notice] ZSRV_MSG0387: SIGTERM received. Shutting down.
