Interesting. I have the same thing, but it uses Microsoft Office. We
have run into a decent handful of issues with this approach
(especially since Microsoft specifically declares Office was not made
for mutlithreaded server type purposes). How complicated is the code
to integrate with OpenOffice? I wonder if it could be ported to the i
and run in headless mode?

Not only that, but there are operations for which we want a web service
that have nothing to do with a database. Yes, on i everything is "in"
the database, but from the average programmers point of view the
database is for data!

what the heck does that have to do with the database? Nothing. So why
would I access it via a stored proc.
