It looks like another learning curve for an old RPGer to climb.

You're not alone. Yesterday I talked with a friend who is trying to learn Adobe Flex and Zend PHP. The Flex Reference Guide offers details on the framework's 1182 classes. That's like learning 1182 service programs. And PHP has a similar learning curve. He said that Java programmers seem to be picking it up quicker than him.

RPG programmers have been spoiled. We can't understand why it's so complicated. The tutorials at www.easy400.net, and the examples by Scott Klement, Jon Paris, Brad Stone, ... too many to mention ... have been helpful.

The Java EE route is a steep learning curve.
