My experience has been that the Windoze installer works just fine if  
your PC is (relatively) local to the IBM i. If (as I am) you are on  
the other end of a DSL connection, it does not have the resilience  
needed to handle network time-delays etc. properly and the FTP  
approach with the Zip file is a better approach.

If you plan on using the DB2 storage engine for MySQL don't bother  
installing the version that is packaged with Zend Core - it is out-of- 
date and will not work with the engine.

Make sure that _all_ the pre-req products for Zend Core are loaded  
before you attempt the install.  It does a less than brilliant job of  
detecting missing pieces and the resulting error log messages (if you  
can find them) are not exactly obvious.  As long as you do your part  
right the installer does a really good job.

In addition to the book Kevin recommended I've written a few articles  
on using PHP, as have Mike Pavlak, Jeff Olen (Kevin's co-conspirator  
on the book) and IBM's Erwin Earley. I'm about to start a PHP series  
for Penton if you want to volunteer to be a proof reader!

P.S. If you plan on buying Kevin and Jeff's excellent book I'm sure
