For anyone looking to consolidate CGI and PHP into a single web server
using Zend Core, Scott Klement wrote a Kick-butt article on this topic.
Even if you are not interested in consolidating, this is a great read to
understand more about reverse proxy, et al.

I can't recall any specific references, but I don't think it is a big
secret. Maybe it was in the Zend newsletter?
This has been a requirement since PHP first came out on the box. Once
Zend announced the new server it was a pretty good guess that that
would be the future of PHP on the i - since they would be implementing
the new server on the box it was again a good bet that they would try
to deal with that issue.
And indeed my understanding is that you will be able to run everything
through a single Apache instance.
