There's a tool called HPHPi that's essentially a JIT version of
HipHop for development use -- so that the developer workflow
isn't changed.

Can you pass along the reference? HPHPi appears to be a keyword gimmick used to drive traffic to sites that have no substance behind them - just vague references to Facebook's HipHop - very annoying.

There was a slide presented by the HipHop team leader that delineated code transformation as a 7-step process as follows:

Parser => Static Analyzer => Pre-Optimizer => Type Inference Engine => Post-Optimizer => Code Generator => g++ Compile

Someone noted in a blog that g++ is definitely not JIT compilation - and that one particular reference to HipHop being JIT technology, was wrong. The Editor of the blog noted that.
