Yes, the eclipse's remote debug works on WAS. Our developers have
tested it and are happy with it. The problem is that it only work for
.java file. It does not work for .jsp file (It will not just into the
break point). As most of you already known, jsp is ready not the acutal
runtime code. The server recompiles the jsp to create the acutal
servlet. So, I'm assuming that is what caused the remote debug to not
work on jsp. I've found some doc on how to do jsp debugging on Tomcat
and jBoss. I just did not see anything about WAS.

Once again, under the heading of "I have never done this myself but I
think it should work" ...

Here is a blog post that one of the WebFacing developers did about
doing a
remote run-on-server

http://wdsc.wordpress.com/2008/04/04/how-to-connect-to-a-i5os-was-instan
ce-from-within-the-ide/

So the idea is that if you start the remote WAS in debug mode then you

should be able to do a remote debug-on-server.

If you try it then please report back as to whether it worked or not
as I
am sure that others would find this useful.

Is there a way to do remote debug on jsp that is installed on a
websphere app server?
