Personally I'd love to see your Java-stuff to see how you do things, and where the abstraction levels are put.
Our approach is completely different - I have been working the last 5 years to make the IBM i JVM behave like our existing OPM Cobol programs, because that is the path of least resistance here. This weekend we put a "scan file and for each record, call a web service and update fields in record with result" Java component in production. We still need to find the right balance of what to do where, with the least amount of trouble getting data across the gap, so I'd like to see (or being told) how you do it.

Thanks :)
