If you want to make good business decisions with a project this big and important, an email list is probably not your best source of advice. You should probably hire a consultant to evaluate your situation more closely and help you make the best decisions given your circumstances.
What technologies do you want to use? EGL? Java? .NET (with Lansa integration products)? PHP? CGI?
Do you want to build your own online shopping cart? Purchase an online shopping cart software package and run it from an IBM, Zend, or Apache web server? Pay a company to host an online store front for you, then set up an interface between their system and your JD Edwards system?
If you need help designing this system, who will be around to maintain it? What are your current employee skill sets? How much are you willing to invest to get new skill sets (if needed)? Would you hire or re-train to get the new skill sets?
You really need an expert who will take the time to understand your business, your skill sets, and your circumstances.
By the way, I am NOT a consultant. I do not benefit from saying you need to hire one.

Subject: [WEB400] need Web enablement and Customer Self-Service for JDE World
The owner of Ameristar Fence wants to go forward immediately with a
complete business-to-customer web enablement solution. Can you assist?
-Enable customers to enter sales orders into a shopping cart on the web.
-Customer pay for order with VISA/Mastercard, etc.
- Sales orders need to go into JD Edwards World F4201 and F4211 sales
order files. We will be on JDE World release A92 by October 2010, but
presently we are on release A73)
-Customer self-service, allowing a web customer to view JDE sales order
status and ship-confirmation.
