Hi David,
I've been working with Silverdev for many years, and I can assure you that
you do not have to install modifications on the PCs.
The programs are written in RPG IV and run on the i, the screens are
stored on the i,
and when you have to modify something on a screen you just have to compile
it in the designer, and it works without compiling the RPG again.
All you have to install on PCs is the "emulator", called MyDesk.
If you change the version of Silverdev on your i, it will apply
automatically on the PCs when users get connected.
Silvedev was really the right tool for us to give our applications a
graphical interface without giving up the stability and security of
applications running on the i.

We looked at this maybe 3 years ago before the English translation was ready. I was quite excited about it but when admin found out that every modification of an application would need to be installed on every PC that used it, the idea was dropped. I don't know if anything has changed since.
