Okay, I cede the point. It appears that partitioning would be required under
IBM i to utilize all 256 cores.
Now I'm not sure again.
"IBM i supports up to 32 cores in a single partition. IBM Lab Services can be
contacted for
an offering to grow beyond 32 cores in a single partition."
