For a database, IBM sells DB2 for Linux, which can be clustered and
everything - apparently even at a competitive price ... but I cannot
locate the pricing ...

To locate the pricing of DB2 for Linux, all you needed to do was click the link
for the "Edition" you were looking for. The "Express" edition is $5,425 for 100
Pity, I gave up too early. Thanks for doing the final click.

PVUs (1 core). The new IBM x3650 (4-core XEON) is priced at $3,425. So if you
needed a 4-core server with a database operating on every core, it would be
slightly less expensive for an IBM i model 720. The database accounts for most
of the cost under both scenarios.

Frankly I thought DB2 would be cheaper than that in the Express edition. Oh well.
