As far as I can see Oracle just asked nicely, but without any consideration for the issues that prompted the ASF to leave in the first place. To me, that is not even close to begging - I would rather consider it damage control.

Saying anything but that Oracle has taken Java back as their own commercial product to the largest possible extend, would be incorrect.

But that is just like what we have with Visual Studio and had with Delphi, so it is business as usual.
