As long as it works for you and you're productive, that's awesome reasoning for it.
Personally I prefer using Apache for RPG based CGI or PHP apps and Tomcat for JSP apps.
No more discussion needed unless someone wants to enlighten me more :-)

1) part of the reason we picked Icebreak was because is came with it's own
webserver. The configuration is as simple as putting in the port# the the name
of the server (i.e. PROD, DEVL). We look at the server as part of the
application, not as a separate piece.
2) Our main reason is that we have a team of RPG developers that could quickly
get up to speed. They were developing apps with in days. We didn't want to
introduce another language (PHP, Java, Javascript...) for them (and me)?to
learn. Since we can also use CL?I have?written apps for admin functions like
working with?OUTQs, MSGQs, Stopping/Starting WTRs, Displaying Spool files, and
emailing spools files as PDF. Other apps include graphs?for performance
monitoring, password expiration warnings & forcing the password change,Security
apps for setting up new users & resetting passwords, and the list goes on.
3) I know there was talk of an open source version, but don't know what became
of it.
