The easiest and fastest way to find out is to issue the following 
command (I suggest you submit it in a program)

DMPJVM  JOB(123456/QEJBSVR/WAS70SVR)

Substitute the proper job number and name for your server

On the output a page or two down you will see a section on Garbage 
collection.  It will tell you the size of the HEAP and a bunch of other 
information.

If you put up this job and run it hourly you'll be able to figure out 
how many garbage collections are actually running and how big every thing is

Caution:  on a heavily loaded server, it can cause the system to bog 
down while it's running.
