My experience with the Zend support has been positive, but since our
support ended this year, we have been just fine with forum and community
support.  PHP has a VERY active community, and I think it is among the best
in the industry.  But there is always a little part of me that is concerned
about something big coming up specific to IBM i that no one will have an
answer for.  If something like that come up, you can always call IBM.  If
the issue is in PASE or FastCGI, it will be covered by IBM Software
Support.  So they can at least help you figure out if the issue is a Zend
or IBM problem.  I don't know what support IBM provides for PHP beyond that
though.  While Zend Server is bundled with the OS now, I would think they
view the support as separate.  But it wouldn't hurt to ask.

So my opinion is that the PHP community support is adequate for the time
being, but have 6+ years experience with Apache/PHP in multiple
environments so I am pretty comfortable handling it on my own.  If you know
quite a bit about Unix/Linux administration you would probably be OK.  If
not, you may seriously want to consider the support.
