I think the most touted is that you can have a single language on client
and server which is definitely a time saver.  I've only read about node.js
and haven't used it yet.

The language alone probably isn't enough to compel.  It's the "whole
package" that starts to make you scratch your chin and say "well, I might
just spend this Saturday digging deeper".

I've spent the past couple years developing a lot of RPG web/mobile stuff
from scratch, so I am a little wide-eyed by the plethora of integration
points the RoR community has created.  I don't know if it is enterprise
ready, but it is definitely "internet startup" ready which is where I
believe it gets the most use.
