Actually quite good.
I actually use Mono on the i by creating Visual Studio application code in VB that compiles from VB to Java.
It's great for Web Services or Console Apps that run in Java on the i.
I did sessions on this at COMMON for a handful of years, but the general response from i developers was: Meh ! :-)

Mainsoft actually created the Mono VB compiler.
I think they do a lot of Interop work on different platforms and the Visual Studio product never quite took off because it was highly underexposed.
It does continue to work fine though :-)
Maybe .Net and IBM i should be a track for your semi-annual conferences.
.Net is poorly utilized by most IBM i developers which is too bad as it's an awesome development platform for desktop and web apps.
To be fair most of our .Net work gets deployed on Windows Servers that talk to the i, but things such as Sharepoint, ASP.Net, Web Services, Fat Clients and more are all quite easy to do in .Net and are relevant to IBM i shops today.
My bias show a little here as you can tell since I've been doing Microsoft connectivity with the AS/400 - IBM i since 1994 :-)

IBM did get it done on PASE, just wouldn't release it to open source.
How good is Mono these days Richard? I looked at it some time back but so much seemed to be missing it didn't seem worth the effort.
