Hi Folks,

Our MySQL server was installed on our IBM i a short while ago, and
everything appeared to be working. I was working on importing a database
from a different MySQL server implementation when I began getting the
following error message when I tried to login into phpMyAdmin. "#2002 -
The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not
correctly configured)". This does not seem to be true though, because the
socket, mysql.default_socket, is set to /tmp/mysql.sock.

At this point, MySQL is unuseable as I cannot login to it, but PHP is
working fine.

Other symptoms I am seeing are when I try to start the MySQL daemon, it
starts and ends right away. It gens 2 spoolfiles. One that just has this
text in it "-n Starting MySQL ...". The second, a joblog, which says it ran
"CALL PGM(QP2SHELL) PARM('/QOpenSys/usr/bin/sh/usr/local/MySQL/bin/mysql.sh
start')" and completed with endcode 0.

Does anyone know a solution for this problem? Is my only option to
reinstall? I have found Mike Pavlak's instructions for how to remove MySQL
and I have downloaded the DBi savefile from Zend, but I'd like to here if
there is a better way before I proceed with the re-install.

Thanks,
Jeff
