While all those components are available at no charge, absorbing ZF might be
a bit much for the PHP newbie. I strongly recommend an on ramp starting at
procedural PHP, then to OO and then to ZF. And another player in the IBM i
space has stepped forward with an application framework that might be a
little easier to implement at first. I have not vetted this completely, but
it looks quite promising. Yes, it is open source, per the GNU LPGL 3
license. It sure is nice to have options, ain't it?

(Subject changed)

This is assuming that all components are IBM i systems.

iADP

(I)BM i operating system
(A)pache web server
(D)B2 database
(P)HP scripting language running on top of the Zend framework

All of these are included with the IBM i O/S.

Thanks,
Todd

Just curious, what are the options the non-RPGCGI folk would pursue today?

I am a big fan of RPGCGI but I also recognize that there are more
speedy-time-to-market ways to skin a cat (based on experience).

Specifically, what is the whole stack (language/frameworks/etc) you are
currently using that you'd recommend to the IBM i crowd as a solid
modernization direction?
