I haven't been following this entire thread, but it appears to revolve around using HTTP to launch documents.

If the work is being done inside the firewall, why not just create a read-only file share and launch documents with STRPCCMD or some other commercial mechanism such as our iSeries Office Integrator software.

Otherwise you should be able to easily set up an HTTP instance to map to one of your IFS directories and launch a PDF document via URL.

Or create a CGI or PHP program that proxies the files from the IFS to the browser. We do this in our WebDocs software quite successfully via RPG/CL.

There seems to be a handful of good ways to accomplish what is needed.
