Return Resource Statement from one PHP Procedure to Another

I want to be able to call a procedure in a class (Orders::rtvDetailRecords)
from another procedure (testOrders_rtvPOSDetail.php) and have
rtvDetailRecords return the resource for a db2_fetch_assoc. I'm able to
iterate through the result set in rtvDetailRecords, but I get this error
when I attempt to iterate through the result set in testOrders_rtvPOSDetail:

Column information cannot be retrieved in
/www/zendsvr/htdocs/mPos_Dev/mike/controller/testOrders_rtvPOSDetail.php
on line 17

I'm passing back the same resource I'm using in the called to the
caller, but the db2_fetch_assoc doesn't work.

Any ideas?
