Since Rob harped a little, I will also.

My issue with the admin interface isn't the start-up time, it's the fact
that the majority of the functions don't work once it is up. I either get
vague errors sent back to the browser or wait forever for clicks to
complete (and many times they never return). I am embarrassed to ever have
to show a non-IBM i person the admin app.

Some day we the community need to come up with a better interface that is
open source.

An idea: Create add-ons to
XMLSERVICE<http://youngiprofessionals.com/wiki/index.php/XMLSERVICE>
that
make it easy to call various system APIs and then build a web based UI on
top of that.
