I posed this question a few months ago and got some good feedback. The
problem is that the procedures recommended just do not seem to work.

I have a browser application that needs to run under https security. I am
using DCM to issue a self-signed certificate and the resulting
application/certificate combination works from an application
perspective.

When I use it from FireFox, I get an initial exception but FireFox very
nicely walks me through a process to recognize the certificate and accept
it as valid.

In IE, I just cannot get this to work (I'm testing with IE9).

I have found several different variations of the procedure on the web.
Here is a link to the IBM procedure:

When I go through the process, it works just like the step-by-step
instructions say it should, but in the end, when I bring up the
application, it ALWAYS issues a warning about the certificate. I really
can't expect users to ignore such an error all the time.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has successfully gotten this to work in
IE.
