DCM is sort of confusing, yes... I agree. But so is SSL and the
terminology until you really get deep into it and use it every day.

I looked at creating a better interface but there just weren't the APIs at
that time to be able to do it with any luck.

I was also trying to look into auto installing of CAs for our products so
that the Not Trusted error wouldn't come up all the time (followed by the
tedious process of installing the CAs). But, of course that was fruitless
as well.

Maybe it's time to write my own SSL routines. haha!

Join the crowd. Unless you really understand DCM very well it's not the

That said: IBM Help desk for DCM is really outstanding. The folks that
work there get that we don't do this all the time and need help. They are
very patient and excellent at getting to the problem and resolving it.
(You
already know how I know this......)

I'll answer my own question .... I found that I was always just opening
the *SYSTEM store. I needed to go and open the local CA store and I was
able to renew the local certificate authority there for a new three year
period. Then back to the *SYSTEM store to renew the individual
certificates for one year each.

Anybody else find DCM to be hard to work with besides me?

All of my self issued certificates are set to expire TODAY! I have
about
six of them that service active applications.

I tried to renew one and it will not extend the expiration date past
today's date.

I see that the local certificate authority is also expiring today so I
tried deleting it an recreating it, but it still comes up with today as
the expiration date.

What am I missing?
