Yes basically you are right - the individual function (or context) is a markup that to all intents and purposes is xml (validated by an xsd) containing references to JavaScript components and/or HTML elements. The JavaScript components have options (attributes) that may be bound to attributes of the data model.

It sounds like you may be using a <tag> language other than HTML, or a UI
defined by JSON or JavaScript instead of HTML. I suppose either approach,
including HTML has its pros and cons.
