Good diagram, something else I didn't know. The HTML template though is
different in that it is handled by the CGISRVPGM2 service program.

http://www.easy400.net/cgidev2o/faq26.htm

"When any of the GetHtmlxxx subprocedures is called, the CGISRVPGM2 service
program checks to see if the HTML files being read are the same as they
were the last time. If so, and none of the files' timestamps has changed,
the subprocedure, in order to enhance performance, does not reread and
reprocess the HTML files. "

I went and looked it up. I thought I had remembered reading that. It isn't
that it is stored in memory, the service program actually tests for changes
and reloads when necessary.

Joe

that is not your problem - here you have a overview of a Apache
environment.

Tier 2 can be replaced without shutting the program down - tier 3-5
requires
the QZSRCGI program to be closed down before changes takes effect.

Since HTML templates are store in memory in tier 3-5 setting on LR in tier
2 make not have any effect.

I'd probably add a data area and use it to flag the program to turn on LR
should I ever want to cycle the program. Would be cleaner for me and
wouldn't affect other cgi programs.

I've always been able to just end single jobs, rather than having to do a
ENDTCPSVR.

Yes you need to run endtcpsvr to bring the program down.

However you may be able to replace the program without bringing the
server
down - it all depends.
