They (RPG and COBOL *PGM) are inherently stored procedures. Or more
specifically, EXTERNAL procedures.


Most IBM i documentation appears to use the term "stored procedures" in
reference to those which have been added to the system catalog (SYSROUTINES
and SYSPARMS tables), using the SQL CREATE PROCEDURE command. That makes
them "callable" via SQL interfaces, in addition to being callable from IBM
i command line and ILE interfaces.
