I suppose your display files have multiple record formats. I think you're
basically saying that you maintain a fairly broadly scoped set of
applications.
To put that in the context of "routing", say you multiply the number of
display files times the number of record formats. 2,500 * 8 = 20,000
routing steps?
What happens if a Node HTTP service needs to evaluate 20K routing steps in
the main event loop and branch accordingly?
There's got to be a way to break that out to reduce the number of routing
step evaluations, and to avoid disrupting the service for users as changes
are made to routes, or errors occur in applications.
