Not so fast!  I have Java servlets that I develop in Windows (and Linux) 
and then drop on to the i.  All the JDBC connection stuff requires not 
one line of changed code.  Java has been one of the few development 
languages I have worked with where the DB connection (using JDBC) needs 
no change at all.  Connection settings, drivers, everything is the same 
whether I write on Windows, Linux or IBM i.

I know some languages and frameworks don't share that simplicity, ie. 
your connection method on the PC is different that the connection method 
in Linux vs directly on i.  But Java *servlets* don't suffer from that...
