Now you have me wondering what I did with Notes as I am sure I used SQL and stored procedures to return values. Maybe I was using LEI instead of ODBC.

We have a similar issue for our Notes programmers, using SQL calls.
They're not able to get return values. We've worked around this issue a
couple ways. Our more mature method is to populate files and the Notes
program retrieves by a GUID key. A newer method that we've used a couple
times is a web service. Our Notes programmers are able to retrieve a
result from a web service.
