So what you're saying is it can't resolve the IP of the $serverUrl , so
it's trying to find MX records for the recipient domain?

I never did get to see the value for $serverUrl

From the error you are getting it looks like you have the same problem -
try using the IP address instead and see if it works. If it does then you
have a DNS issue - not a php one.
