Hi,

When installing the PTF's you only put the new update package in a
repository on the IFS

Now to upgrade the product itself you must select the installation Tap on
the HTTP administration console: http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:2001/HTTPAdmin

Note: I always end my WAS instances before a upgrade:

Here you can upgrade the installations.

After selecting upgrade select "fix pack" where you will presented to enter
a path.

By default /QIBM/WAS/WASFixPacks/WAS/FIXPACK/

This is where the PTF install has put the fixes for your product.

Mine shows as:

You select the version of the fixes which you want to install, open the dir
then openthe dir FIXPACK and the select the repository.config file and click
ok.

Follow the instructions presented then.

Hope this will help.

There should also be an IBM doc somewhere, but I don't know the id

You can put PTF's on all day long and that won't do it. The PTF's just put
the new upgrades on the system. You then have to run some process to
upgrade your WAS servers to that new version. Kind of like multiversioning.
I'm just trying to figure that process.

If I'm not wrong WAS 9.0 use Installation Manager, WAS 8.5 is still via PTF.

Trying to figure out how to upgrade WAS to a higher version. Most

websites send you all over. I've been to many (as you can see by the

information provided below). Now I am just trying to find out how to

actually DO the upgrade. I think I would like to use the command line

as response time on HTTPAdmin is crazy slow. That, and I tried

stepping through it and it couldn't size windows, etc to be useful.
