I honestly can't recall exactly how the compiler internals handle this, but
if you want to know for sure - compile a simple OPM COBOL program with
GENOPT(*LIST) and study the resulting MI.  COBOL does a nice job of
identifying which COBOL statement generated which MI instructions.
