Jeff,

I've heard of the eight port card some time ago. This might be
great for outbound. But for large quantities of inbound this
could be a problem. In my example we have 40 phone numbers shared
on two lines. Each of these numbers serves a seperate user,
(except in the case of a couple shared mail-in databases).
Therefore several people have their own fax number: CEO, HR
director, VP of IS, me, payroll, etc. Granted, since they are
sharing two DID trunks then only two numbers may be in use at any
time. (not real numbers) So you dial 219-555-2005 for my fax,
219-555-2006 for the CEO, etc. Notes strips off the last 4
characters and routes the fax as an email attachment, via looking
up these numbers in the nab, to your inbox. I question as to
whether or not the 8 port card will have the same autoroute capability.

I've noticed that the CRTFAXD command added *IMANALOG and *IMISDN
to the traditional *LAN, *TDLC, *FAX, and *ASYNC. What intrigues
me is *IMISDN. It is described as:
*IMISDN
The PCI based integrated remote access ISDN port is attached to
    a point-to-point protocol (PPP) line.

Perhaps this will have the autoroute capability built in. (By the
way, *IMANALOG is the new 8 port card.)

Come to think about it, I did hear something about a future DFS/400.
And I did hear about still needing the Nice Try product to handle
the rendering process. They went to great lengths to try to explain
it to me. Still left a bad taste in my mouth. Heck, if Fax/400 can
do overlays and whatnot why couldn't DFS/400? I understand there
will be some reinventing of the wheel because Fax for Domino can
translate some attachments directly in to the fax.

Rob,

At Lotusphere IBM talked about the December announce of an eight
port PCI Fax card for the AS/400 as a replacement for the old cards, I hink
they are using Brooktrouts but do not remember for sure! As DFS/400 is
supposed to be available in Feburary if I mismember correctly, however you
will still need the Not Trustworthy product to handle the rendering process
even for DFS/400.

I can cross check some notes Thursday if you would like...
