RLSIFSLCK, but beware of this command when Domino is up. You could be in
a heap of trouble. Also, it only releases byte-range locks, so it doesn't
always release the file to a point where you can manipulate it by hand.
Your safest bet is to do the copy from within the confines of Domino. Look
into the C, C++ and Java APIs. They may have some of the functions you
need (C API: NSFDbCopyExtended). There may also be some more stuff in
there to peak your curiosity and give you even more cool ideas!

As an easy alternative, try using the option "File > Database > New Copy"
from your client. This is a good option if you don't need the copy
process to be automated.

Oh, one more thing, when you copy a database using standard OS/400
commands you become the owner of that database. Domino has a real problem
trying to access an object owned by someone other than QNOTES. So, make
sure and execute the CHGOWN on your new copy (if you copy it from within
Domino, you'll be all set).

Ok, this is in addition to my previous question...

Is there a way, within Domino, to cause a database to be unavailable?

I've determined that Domino will release it's lock on a database file (in
the IFS) about 20 minutes after the file has been closed by clients & the
designer. Is there a way to make that happen faster?

Thanks!

david
