Is there any problem of an R5 client running on R6 servers compacting
their mail file before their client is upgraded to R6 and existing in that
condition for an extended length of time.
I'm getting ready to upgrade from R5.0.11 to R6 in a cluster mail
environment. Clients do not have administrative rights to their PC. I
will be coordinating with my network support people to select a group of
users, provide them administrative rights, and I will send them an
"Upgrade by Mail" message. It will take a while to upgrade all 2000 based
on their actual presence. I know compacting changes the structure of
their mail file but does not affect its design. CLients know how they can
delete mail and compact their mail files to keep them below quota sizes.
I'll know if it happens by regularly monitoring their files from the
Administrator and seeing a change that doesn't match my roll out plan.
Just thinking ahead to see if this was an issue for anyone. TIA
