I think what Roger is really looking for is that the field validation be
done as the user types in the field. Sure the iSeries can do the
validation, but I think that is too late for what he is looking to achieve.

It would be great if Lotus would add field validation to the Designer
client.  So, if I would add a field to a Form, the properties dialog would
have another tab for validation.  On that tab I could set-up validation
based on the field type.  Things like max length for text fields or min and
max numbers.  I think the enablement of the events in Notes 6 will solve a
lot of the validation problems most people have though.

Any chance your iSeries can do field validation?  For example, if you do
your move, (via LS-ODBC or whatever the flavor of the day is), and the
trigger program indicates a failure then report that back.
