Mike,

We use GSX Monitor to collect basis stats and ping the servers ever few
minutes. I have it opening database URLs. It will send alerts of a URL is
not responding.
An example would be checking the our Intranet homepage every 1 minute by
opening it and averaging response time. Usually about 1.5 seconds.
This tool is ok for basic URL response time monitoring and collecting http
stats. They have a downloadable demo.

We use Webtrends for detailed user analysis and trending.

We use Domino Activity Logging for detailed User analysis and trending.

I also user the Domino Administrator to collect stats like
http.currentconnections to monitor how busy the web servers can be.
I have customized the events database and added rules to alert me if the
servers have too many open connections concurrently etc.

I also measure Http usage of CPU, via AS400 tools and GSX.

There are lots of ways to monitor and trend performance.

We also load test HTTP apps we deploy with Compuware.

subject: Perf. monitoring for Domino (HTTP)?

One interesting dilemma I am having lately is trying to measure response
time for our Domino (web) applications. Beyond Tivoli are there any 3rd
party tools to help measure the perf. of the Domino HTTP engine and it's
applications? Any experience with them? Thoughts, likes, dislikes?

And any experience with Tivoli in this area? I only ask begrudgingly
because my perception of Tivoli as being expensive, complicated, and just
not all that iSeries friendly.

Long term I will need to incorporate the monitoring of WAS and WPS
instances so I will have to keep that in mind.

Chris uses Web Trends to analyze the Domino web logs. I do not know if he

uses them to get performance data. He's out this week on vacation.
