trace subdirectory -- DOMINO400

On Domino Sametime servers there is a Trace subdirectory, 
/SAMETIME01/NOTES/DATA/Trace.  Is it safe to delete anything in there over 
x days old?  My concern might be that some txt file was used to configure 
something or some situation like that.
