For one, it runs in a different space from the Notes Client, so if you're
chatting and waiting on a db open or some other "locking" task in the Notes
Client, you won't be waiting on that task to complete before you can chat
again. But IBM is working on this.
This isn't a huge deal for most people, though. I always use the integrated
client myself. But many companies may use Sametime who don't run Notes too.

Norman, yes, if you have a Notes license, you are entitled to use Sametime
for CHAT ONLY from inside the Notes Client or DWA. You would still need to
purchase Sametime licenses to use meetings or the Connect Client.
