Rob,
Sametime 9 requires Sametime Proxy server for messaging to work
with iNotes. If you don't have anyone that is using iNotes then I don't
think it will matter. If you need to run Sametime Proxy it requires
Sametime system console and a DB2 database. Sametime system console and
Sametime Proxy require WAS. We haven't installed Sametime 9 on our I yet
but all the other piece's are in-place to do the upgrade, we have
everything but the Community server is running on a Windows box. Hope
this helps.

I am just looking at the Sametime for IBM i system requirements at
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21092193
Is some version of WAS required? If not, does Sametime just automatically

install some version of WAS?
IOW, if I run DSPSFWRSC and notice
Resource
ID Option Feature Description
5733W70 *BASE 5050 WebSphere Application Server V7 for i5/OS
5733W70 1 5101 WebSphere Application Server V7 Express
then that was put on there by me, intentionally, possibly for some
webservice site that never came to fruition? It's not needed by Sametime,

right?
