 >> If so, why is it still RPG?

It is still RPG because the language syntax it uses is RPG. The vast
majority of RPG programs that have been written over the past few years
don't use the cycle (other than to open files etc.) -VARPG just formalizes
that by removing the cycle completely because it is an event-driven
language just like VB. The only "cycle" is in the event monitor which
watches for GUI events and triggers the appropriate action routine when a
GUI event is detected. It doesn't have a cycle in any sense that an RPG
programmer would recognize.

 >> doesn't it mean Report Program Generator?

The "meaning" of the letters RPG is a historical fact, but it has very
little to do with the tasks the language is used for today. After all,
Java (Oak) was designed to program toasters and other houshold devices but
no one is suggesting that it should be limited to those tasks. <grin>
